Updates

What’s new

New content, updated learning resources and website fixes, collected into one page of notes per day.

Secondary 2 Science is here

New content

A new Secondary 2 course with three topics: heat transfer, chemical changes, and forces and energy.

  • Each topic follows the MOE Lower Secondary Science syllabus, with ten quest stages, exam-style multiple-choice and structured questions, revision notes and a hands-on lab with an exam question at the end of every station.
  • Answers are marked the way exam markers look for them: the claim, the reason and the link, the right science words, and units and directions in calculations.
  • Topics marked optional for G2 are kept for Challenger mode only.

Updated content

Interactions within the Environment is now built to our full PSLE standard.

  • Exam-style questions in all nine PSLE question types, structured questions with worked model answers, and a larger lab.

Fixes & improvements

Choose Secondary 2 on your scientist card to open the Sec 2 course.

  • Secondary 2 Science is now in class selection alongside Primary Science, PSLE and Secondary 1.
  • Only the Sec 2 topics show on the dashboard, in practice and in exam mode when Secondary 2 is chosen.

PSLE content has started, with weekly updates

New content

Our PSLE build has started: the first P6 topic is complete, and new PSLE content will be added every week.

  • Forces is the first topic built to our full PSLE standard: exam-style multiple-choice questions in all nine PSLE question types, and structured questions marked point by point.
  • Each written answer shows a model answer split into the answer, the science idea and the link back, plus a version with one key idea missing to practise filling in.
  • Four new Forces Lab stations: a drop tower for air resistance, a boat tank for water resistance, a balance board for forces acting together, and a fair-test bench. Each station ends with a real PSLE-style written question.
  • More P6 topics follow week by week, and the P5 chapters stay as they are.

Updated content

Concept cards now show the words that earn marks, a common trap and an answer frame.

  • Each Forces concept card names the key words examiners look for, the most common wrong idea and why it is wrong, a sentence frame for full-mark answers, and a quick recall question.
  • The Forces revision notes gained sections on air and water resistance, mass and weight, and answer technique.

Fixes & improvements

Choose PSLE on your scientist card to open the Forces course.

  • PSLE is now available alongside Primary Science and Secondary 1 in class selection.
  • Your saved choice carries through the dashboard, labs, revision and exam practice.
  • Changing course keeps your scientist card, learning points and saved progress.

Quest Board and one parent dashboard

New content

Explore Quest Board and open learning reports and rewards from one parent dashboard.

  • The Quest Board page explains family quests, parent-defined rewards and the optional points shop.
  • One parent sign-in opens learning reports for your scientist cards alongside family quests and rewards.
  • Daily and weekly family quests accumulate approved rewards for one claim at the end date.
  • My Questboard opens the selected Light Quest player’s quest account and asks for a family code when needed.

Updated content

A refreshed home page and Quest Board previews in list and tile views.

  • The home page now invites children to understand the science and lab it out, with a brighter Try the question first button.
  • Quest Board is linked from the website menu, footer and parent section.
  • Demo family screenshots show the quest list on the home page and quest tiles on the Quest Board page.
  • Choose reward types from 1 ticket to 10 tickets. Create as new copies any quest with a fresh ID and empty progress.

Fixes & improvements

Clearer parent login and quests that can be assigned later.

  • Choose a parent or child account at registration. Parent accounts open the family dashboard; child accounts show learning and their own Quest Board.
  • Learning reports and Quest HQ link back to the parent dashboard. Child quest sign-in has its own entry.
  • Parents can post quests before children join, then edit multiple child assignments. Removing a child preserves pending reviews and earned rewards.
  • Children can unlink a family and keep their completed rewards. Reward claims stay separate for each child and parents confirm handover.
  • Quest Board entry and sign-out routes are clearer, and parent sign-ins now last longer.

Family quests and rewards

New content

Family quests and an optional points shop with parent-defined rewards.

  • Parents can post home quests, check completed tasks and hand over rewards. Children join their family with a code.
  • Parents can enable a points shop and choose rewards and prices. Children redeem available points from their linked Light Quest player.

Updated content

One reward catalogue for quests, the points shop, or both.

  • Create a reward once in My rewards and choose where it is offered. Custom quest rewards can also be saved for reuse.
  • Parents can mark redeemed rewards as given or cancel pending redemptions and refund points.

Fixes & improvements

Learning points and levels stay intact when rewards are redeemed.

  • Reward spending uses a separate available balance. Light Quest learning scores, level progression and leaderboard totals stay unchanged.
  • Parents reach Quest HQ through the main website login and Scientist cards page.

A new home for science adventures

New content

More practice questions, a guide to how we build Light Quest, and dedicated community pages.

  • Additional Primary and Secondary 1 practice questions across electrical circuits, heat, light, plant systems, reproduction, the water cycle, atoms and body systems.
  • Read the learning approach behind Light Quest on How we build it.
  • Find community rankings on the Community page and planned work alongside daily content updates.

Updated content

Clearer course information, learning previews and PSLE revision, with refreshed website branding.

  • The homepage focuses on the public experiment, available courses and the learning approach. Full chapter previews and answer-writing examples are on Learn & practise.
  • The PSLE revision guide puts its 19 lessons, worked examples and practice answers before planning and exam details.
  • Browser tabs now show P5 to Sec 2 Science | That Science Thingy with a bright flask icon.

Fixes & improvements

Light and dark themes, clearer experiment feedback and our new website address.

  • Updated page titles and descriptions explain our P5 to Sec 2 Science scope and distinguish available courses from upcoming work.
  • Choose Light, Dark or System, with improved text contrast and cleaner navigation.
  • The circuit experiment clearly separates choices, action buttons and links. Results show correct or incorrect first, then what happened and a short explanation, with an animated check or cross.
  • The result comes into view after a test. Reduced-motion settings show a static result.
  • Visitors to the former Science address see a friendly move notice and are taken to the matching page on the new website. A direct link is available too.
